Ristorante Paradiso

January 13th, 2017

What took me so long to watch this! It's fantastic! There's drama, cooking, waiters, romance and wine! If young guys, with 20/20 vision is what you're looking for, then get out! Don't go! Stay you'll appreciate a more mature man with real/fake spectacles, like a well aged wine.

The only reason this didn't get a 5 star rating was that I never found out what Nicoletta had to tell her mom concerning her father! This is a great restaurant anime with a mature cast of characters. I love how even though this is a short anime, you still get a back story on all the employees at Casetta dell'Orso. It's hard not to love them, they're all well fleshed out which is a rare sight for a single season anime. Ah how I love it so!

M3: Sono Kuroki Hagane

January 11th, 2017

I love the colours (gray), especially when neon colours are added to the mix, they really pop! For how much I love the show.... I hate the "main cast"once you watch it through you'll get it. Fudge I hate them all! "Main cast" compromising of Akashi, Sasame, Minashi, and Tugumi, kind of a slight spoiler...  But! Emiru and Mahmu's friendship was one of the saving graces, I cried so much for those two. For a dystopian anime, where the threat is clear but the solution isn't, it's honestly worth a watch if you can get your hands on it.

Also as much as I love Emiru and Mahmu my OTP for this anime is hands down Raika and Iwato. The progression of the relationship is cute, and is a complete polar opposite of Akashi's relationships with all the girls that throw themselves at him.

I had noted to myself a the start of this show that I loved Heito ten times more than  Akashi. Now that I've finished the show, my opinion hasn't altered. I must prefer a character that killed his family, and manipulates other people to the point of terror.

So in conclusion if you want a mech, psychological, sci-fi kind of show where people die... then this is the show for you!

Yuri on Ice

January 10th, 2017

This took me a whole day to rate... the anime was AMAZING, with great music, art, intro and ending themes.

Now my only gripe with the show are the last 2 episodes. What development happened between Yuri and Viktor seemed to deteriorate. I felt cheated, the ending was anti-climactic. I want a season 2 because I want to see what happens... but I feel like someone stabbed me in the hear... Yuri!!! on Ic is an abusive relationship that I want no part in... Although if it starred Yuri P. then maybe I'd reconsider.

Okay I lied, another gripe that I have with the series if that it bats around the bush too much. The fact that Yuri never outright says that he loves Viktor, or that he even goes out of his way to say that they aren't like that, it pisses me off. I understand the kiss happened, and stuff, but! I still don't know if Viktor is just Yuri's muse, if it's more of an idolization type of love, or admiration. I can hear people telling me they're subtly romantic, it's obvious! But is it? Is it really? I understand Yuri's meek, and he has self doubt. Also those thank you rings on the right hand ... I'm not sure if this is an engagement or not (Russia right hand, while in Japan it's on the left), you'd expect it to be on the left hand considering it is being animated in Japan... I know the fandom says their engaged.

So can I just say that Yuri P. has a Howl's Moving Castle/Clamp kind of animation to him. Just GORGEOUS! He's honestly my favourite character from this entire anime. I want him to have more screen time!

I was so excited for god sake! I had History Maker on my cellphone. I'd tune in each week... Just to have a cold-ish interaction between Yuri and Viktor for the last few episodes. Let's face it! No one's here for the skating! I care about the art that goes into the good skating scenes, but I do not care for the sport. Because the anime doesn't make me want to care! I just wanted to see a little romance between Viktor and Yuri.. and I really just got blue balled...

Also JJ is a dick! But he's parents are the embodiment of Canadians (for that one scene). I was cheering those parents on, for their support for their A-hole of a son. Also I loved seeing his backstory albeit short, seeing how set he was to skate to HIS style, no matter how many people said he couldn't make it... but alas do to plot armor he could never win, after all it is Yuri on Ice!

In the words of a wise Yuri Katsuki "Let's end this Viktor.".

Ao Oni The Blue Monster

January 8th, 2017

This was an adorably violent short anime, my son and I would tun in every week to watch it. At one point he had said he loved the show but it scared him. I remembered that I reassured him by saying "Don't worry, look at the monster butts!". So every time the ending theme would come on we'd laugh, point and yell "Monster butt!".

To think a RPG maker game got it's own short anime, and now an animated movie. I am so excited for the movie to come out. I've never played the game but I am excited to see where the movie goes. If you need a pointless distraction with, watch Ao Oni The Blue Monster.

Lostorage Incited WIXOSS

January 8th, 2017

A sequel to the Select series, just when we all thought LRIGs were a thing of the past. Their back, but the game has changed. At first the whole betting your memories and losing all your coins kind of put me off, I was so used to the old formula from the previous seasons. I miss Tama and wanted to see more of the original cast, mind you we do get to see two that I can remember. I've got to say the ending to this WIXOSS season made me happy... stupid friendship tears... I still can't stand Chinatsu... spoiled brat!

Also on a little side note the LRIGs battles are much lamer this season, I'm not sure if it's because of budget restrictions. It's more of a fire from afar, instead of choreographed fight scenes...

Ai Mai Mii: Mousou Catastrophe

January 7th 2017

It's a little odd because I was avoiding this sequel like the plague.  I had the original confused with another anime I had watched around the same time. But as soon as I saw that 8bit intro I KNEW or should I say I remembered the first season and knew I would love this season as much as the last. Fun, ridiculous, worth watching!

Not as much vomit and bleeding from the ears as I was previously used to....

Le Chevalier D'eon

January 7th, 2017

A show that I thought would be eternally dropped by me... But for the 2017 anime watching challenge was given to me to watch. The plot is slow, the characters are underdeveloped and the story's all over the place. I can just hear people... BUT MADAME! It's a historical anime! That's how they were in real life! Oh... Okay, I say... so the magical psalms really happened... right!? WTF is this shit... I'm french an I made sure to read everything that came up... still shit. For a story about revenge... Lia/D'eon (by the end of the anime... you know what I mean) don't really get the best "revenge", it kind of seems like it was a pointless venture... sure we get answers... but it was stretched so thinly...

But this is more of a rant then anything, I can understand how some people love this show, it's just not my jam... I watched it in it's entirety (I even own it on DVD)... I honestly couldn't stand it.

La revanche!

Oblivian Island:Haruka and the Magic Mirror

January 6th, 2017

I didn't quite enjoy this movie. It's not because of the CGI, but more so the pacing. My son enjoyed it and called it Magical 4 out of 5 stars. I do like the message behind it, about not neglecting your things... just it's not very memorable. Haruka isn't really the most likable person either, so for a parent I have more of "you ungrateful brat" feeling for her. It is a neat concept that the island residents are unable to create, so that's why they take neglected items, the opening scene to the city, was fantastic.

Izetta: The Last Witch

December 6th, 2017

Izetta: The Last Witch? More like Yuri: The Last Witch! Get it! Their totes gay for each other! Okay... enough of that.

Who would have thought a pre-world war mixed with a witch or two would make for such a good show! I cried, I smiled, I slightly got more intrigued to watch war ad political anime. The last episode had so many surprises, loved it!

In all seriousness the progression of Finé and Izetta's relation (albeit, it was strong at the get go), had a fluidity that didn't force itself onto you. The loyalty and understanding between the two was unparalleled, whether you're on the their just friends, intimate, or a king and her vassal. The ship is strong with these two!

As much as I love Finé and Izetta, my OTP is Bianca and Rickert. While scanning through episodes for my picture of choice... I came across A Cruel Fairy Tale episode, and cried my eyes out just seeing Bianca... How bitter sweet... I want more.

I definitely recommend it for anyone who enjoyed Maoyu.

High Score

January 6th, 2017

The entire anime revolves around horrible relationships... With a mangaka stressing about his manga being on the bottom of the monthly list. Which in all honesty I don't blame it for being in last place. You have a narcissistic couple, a violent girl and a cheating boyfriend, and a third relationship which is next to non-existent... all in the compact anime totaling 8 episodes of 3 minutes each. Not everything is bad the intro is catchy.

Dimension W

January 5th, 2017

The first thing that comes to mind when I watched this show was Solty Rei. By no means does that mean that Dimension W is riding on Solty Rei's coattail, it just has the same feel. This show would have been rated much higher had the ending been better or better executed. Mind you the first half of episode 10 had me bawling. But hey! Who doesn't like a broody protagonist with a robot as his sidekick!?

Yowamushi Pedal: Spare Bike

January 4th, 2017

A mini movie focusing on our favourite climers, and their beginnings. We get to see how Toudou got his Mountain God title, and Makishima got his Peak Spider. I think anyone who's been who's been reading my entries, knows exactly why I love this movie!

Yowamushi Pedal The Movie

January 4th, 2017

This movie made me so anxious, and put me on edge... I just can't put it into words! This movie was/is a great send off to the 3rd years (especially Maki-chan). As Eloise would put it, the power of friendship makes me bawl. The movie is a sequel to Grande Road, and the final high school race for the seniors.

This is going to be one of those movies I can't help but go back to. It embodies what the show is fully.

Red Bean asking the pressing questions!

Yowamushi Pedal Re: Road

January 4th, 2017

An hour and a half comprising of season 2 (Grande Road) of Yowamushi Pedal. It's a good refresher, and it keeps to only the most iconic/crucial scenes. I don't recommend skipping Grande Road by just watching Re:Road. It doesn't have the same emotional impact. But if it's been a while and you need a refresher before starting Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation, I say GO FOR IT!

Yowamushi Pedal Re: Ride

January 3rd, 2017

A hot springs compilation of the first two races at the inter-high. With Makishima x Toudou half naked all the time, who wouldn't love it! This is a good alternative for people that want to experience the show but don't have the time to watch episodes 23 to 38. What I'm getting at is 16 episodes jammed into an hour and a half movie isn't that bad!

Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road

January 2nd, 2017

It's hard to grasp that this is the last season that my husbando Makishima will be in. Oh I will miss him. But I still have the movies to watch! But now on topic, I was surprised that they were able tot stretch the Inter high race into 24 episodes while still keeping it interesting.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE this series, just the previous season had many breaks in between races. But all in all in Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation I will be cheering on Red Bean!

January 1st, 2017

I watched this anime raw so I only knew the basics of what was happening. But how could you not love an orphaned Panda who loves bread!? It is adorable, it's not Kogepan, but it is adorable!

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan

January 1st, 2017

"Pi-piru-piru-piru-pi-piru-pi!" The anime that makes me think of Jo! It's definitely original, and my seiyu voices Dokuro-chan. But it wasn't my cup of tea, it's definitively an experience...

Hetalia: Axis Powers

January 1st, 2017

These are clever shorts and would have gotten a higher rating had they not given me headaches in the past.

Here's a quote from my wise son "Look Mom it's the Dorito show!".

December 31, 2016

Are you single?  Are you interested in other lifeforms?  Is hair that bows down to the will of gravity a deal breaker?  Then look no further, Vash is the one for you! Stunning good looks, chiseled body, and to top it off selfless. But watch out you have competition!

Now let's talk about the anime.  Trigun is one of the cult classic, which unfortunately took me too long to get to.  It hasn't aged the best over the years, but it did throw me for a loop.  I had originally thought this was going for a Mad Max feel, being a dystopian setting, but turns out it's a sci-fi!  That ending though!

P.S. Nicholas x Milly = OTP

Rage of Bahamut: Genesis

December 30, 2016

This has officially become one of my gems. It's been a while since a story has taken me by the hand, and just let me experience it for what it is. Its a little hard to put into words exactly. From start to finish the art is gorgeous, the story is concise. The last three episodes had me bawling buckets! I recommend it to all!

The feels man!!!

World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman

December 29, 2016

Probably the most overused line in this anime. As much as I dislike harem and echii anime... I stuck with it... The first three episodes made me want to drop. Too many unnecessary pantie shots and motor-boating screens. Also the sister/not really a sister character Satsuki got on my nerves like no ones business!

It's an okay reincarnation anime (but it's no Fate/). Definitely shipping Moroha and Shizuno.
